I know it's Tuesday, but I spent yesterday dashing to and from Glenrothes in Scotland in snow-delayed planes  

Some winter misery for you  

Composed and played on a piano, with a bit of thumbjam cello to ladle on the melancholy. All recorded on the MBR, with a guest appearance from Christopher Walken reading Poe's 'The Raven' added in Audacity.

 Lyrics...

i was there
but now i'm gone
from a cabinet of curiousity
just the bones
of all i own
laid out on the lawn in front of me
counting sheep
as britain sleeps
insomnia brings no epiphany
chalk it up
then break it down
this hamster wheel will be the death of me

when it's edged with black
the widowed sunlight lacks
an ending for this winter story
and a raven's eye
reflects the milky sky
and frames the only certain for me...

Really nice tune Greeny, I hear a touch of "While My guitar Gently weeps" in the verse progression and that chorus is the bomb brother! Very enjoyable listen!

This is really a great song Tim! You have many great songs but you're near the top with this one. The piano and cello are hand in hand with creating an infectious melancholy sound. I love your verse vocals and melody but the chorus is the standout hook in a song with many hooks. Your songwriting "well" never seems to run dry...I'm envious!

Unbelievably, I've done 13 new tracks since Christmas Eve! A complete new album, following on from one before that which took a whole 2 months, lol. So I've only posted 20% of my new material. Actually, less than that, because I did another two albums worth when I was 'away' from here.
