The New CD/DVD/Book release thread

It's hard to keep up with what is coming out, so I thought a central place for new releases might be...well, worthwhile. By the way, even though some have panned it, I am liking the new Pete Townshend autobiography.  It has some pomp, but it read with his voice and comes across honest (through Pete's eyes anyway).

Happy holidays.

I know this isn't everybody's cup of tea, but I just finished the Zeppelin reunion show on DVD and enjoyed it thoroughly, mostly because they pulled it off. Plant strains in some spots, most notably on the encore, and Page is his sloppy self and more, but mostly, I had a big grin on my face while it was on.  There is a 2 DVD version that has the entire rehearsal on DVD.

For the musos out there, The Aristocrats have a new DVD. The band is made up of guitar virtuoso Guthrie Govan, Vai and Keneally alum Bryan Beller on bass, and monster drummer Marco Minneman. It amounts to terribly complex instrumental music with some Zappa influence thrown in for good measure.

The Beatles have re-released their entire back catalouge on VINYL. Black Sabbath have done the same with their Ozzy fronted albums, including reproduction tour programmes, all in a lovely box set. I want them both.  :'(

I don't!! But I'm gonna get a turntable, it's my top priority. My Hi-Fi amp has a phono input, so I won't need any kind of pre-amp. I've been looking on e-Bay, you can pick up very good turntables for not too much cash. I've just missed out on a very nice, perfect Technics Pro deck that went for about £20. It was only just up the road, I coulda gone and picked it up...

I've still got all my vinyl however. Somewhere in the region of 800 albums and 400 singles. But I'm really getting into the idea of these remastered re-releases. It seems they're all using the 180gram 'heavy' vinyl, enabling a much deeper groove...

I'm sure most people are aware that 'Django Unchained' is on general cinematic release.

It's as good as they say. Best Tarantino film since 'Pulp Fiction'. Nearly 3 hours but seems to last half the time, the movie just fizzes across the screen.
