Well it's another short, miserable one from me  - should just say that before I joined Songcrafters I'd never written a miserable song before - not quite sure what that says about me but an interesting fact nevertheless  ;D

It was going to be called Kindred Spirits.

Awesome!  I wish you'd give Elgin Soules a go...

Redler

Miserable song or not...but anyway, this is very melodic and beautiful. Awesome songwriting, Haylie!

I really liked what you did with it Chezedog, I don't think mine would be nearly so good! I don't have an external mic at the moment (I've broken my preamp) but if you're serious about me singing it for you and it can wait a couple of weeks pm me. Personally, I think you should just rerecord your vocals but it would be cool to sing something with you  :D

We drag everyone down eventually... ! (I'm joking of course!). I really like the mournful minor chords and the way you sing it. It's a great performance, and I say you should do 'melancholy' more often if this is the result.

This is really fantastic and superbly done Haylie.

Doesn't sound so miserable to me ... quite expressive and nice.

Sounds like you're growing here ...

I believe it would be better.

Some songs promote images for me, and immediately, I saw a wistful walk on a fall day. If I had one niggle, the guitar is much more immediate than the vocals, causing them to sound like they are coming from different places.  I mean it more as a heads up that a critique as I think this works well as it is.

Lovely post.

Hilary

Thanks for all your comments boys - yes I am growing here, it's a constant inspiration. Before I joined, I'd only written 3 'straight' songs (well that I'll admit to), 2 were mine - very personal, country and chirpy(ish), and 1 co-written.

Blooby, I placed the BR real close to the guitar sound hole (vertical) to balance the guitar and vox more and it just picked up what it could of the vox, but I'm still experimenting and have done another one more recently under the covers, Livin' on a Prayer, with help from Daniel Storey with the BR settings and, apart from some background noise, I think it's much better.

Should, hopefully, get my phantom power unit on Monday (fingers crossed) so will be able to use the Rode again - whoop, whoop.
