This is probably my busiest time of year, today I performed for around 8 hours. I did have about 45 min. in Nissan Sentra Studios  today and did this one. I got a new pick up( suction cup jimi) for my uke, $12 bucks wasted. I recorded more lead uke for this but the pick up caught all this percussive thudding from I guess me hitting the uke while strumming. Anyway the only thing salvageable from the track was the intro., I took a chance with a different brand pick up, AXL transducer, but I should have gotten the signal flex I used to have. Oh well, live & learn.

magic hooky.

i got a cheap clip on pick up from ebay. ive used on my uke and acoustic guitar a couple of times but the signal is really weak and noisy from it. i spose for a good pick up you need to dig deeper in yer pockets.

As much as I love your other uke posts,  think this one works the best as a uke song.  Perhaps that's because I am less familiar with this tune. This one really spoke to me, especially with that vocal delivery. Nice.

Nice job. I like INXS but I really only know the Kick album and "What You Need", so I'm not familiar with this one. But I enjoyed your cover of it anyway.

Here's a page that shows how to permanently install an inexpensive piezo pickup inside your ukulele. It looks like the same type of transducer as the Signalflex, so I assume the sound would be similar. Still, if you go for it, you might want to try a temporary installation with double-sided tape or something before you go drilling holes in your uke and gluing things inside.

The pickup costs $2.19 at Radio Shack. What a bargain!

I think I'd be leery of installing the jack at the location they show because the wood is too thin there and it would eventually crack from inserting the guitar cable many times and from the weight of the guitar cable causing the wood around the jack to twist. Perhaps it would be okay if you added a large metal plate behind it to distribute the pressure and provide support. Better still, you might be able to find a jack with a longer collar so that it could be installed in the end block where the wood is thicker. You might even want to get one that doubles as a strap button. Here are a couple of examples from Stewart-MacDonald:

Thanks for the kind words my friends! You guys should check out "Shabooh Shoobah " I think it was thier first album and it was always my favorite!

64-thanks for the info. I'm not exactly a handy type guy and I don't have a soldiering iron so I'll probably just get this one http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_3_11?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=signal%20flex%20sf30. The sound is first rate in my opinion, snice my first SF30 went dead I've bought 2 other similar ones and they don't even come close to the quality sound I got with this little jimi. I also like the fact I can use it on my mandolin, backpacker guitar, banjo and even my harpsichord I suppose. I really want to upgrade to an acoustic electric uke but the most affordable one is the red or black sunburst Epiphone. I do like it but it's a concert and I really do prefer my baritone. I'm floored at how much I like this $30 Rogue Uke. I've been pretty hard on it this past year, had to super glue the back twice but it's still going strong. So many toys so little $$$.
Rock On!
