I think I am stuck can't get out.  Want to do just regular recording.  Pushed trk 1  But I think it must be under v-tracks or something.  When I went to record on track 2 it came up with V 1  v1  v1  v1
I just want a regular track When I push exit  Tr 1 on bottom is flashing. I erased the track I had shut it off turned it on Made new song and Effects L/R Tr1   On bottom and that tr1 keeps flashing how do I get out of this.

The thing to remember with the BR (which is a bit odd) is that all tracks are V tracks. Think of it like this:

Track 1  V1  V2  V3  V4  V5  V6  V7  V8
Track 2  V1  V2  V3  V4  V5  V6  V7  V8
Track 3  V1  V2  V3  V4  V5  V6  V7  V8
Track 4  V1  V2  V3  V4  V5  V6  V7  V8

(the Track 1..4 represents the buttons on the machine, the Vs are the actual digital tracks you record on)

So whenever you record anything, you are using a V track. Pressing the Track button just tells the BR that you want to record on Track 1, whichever V track you have selected in that second window is the V track on which you will record. So when you see

V1  V3  V1  V4

in that window, it says you are currently playing back Track 1 V1, Track 2 V3, Track 3 V1, Track 4 V4. If you press record, you then get the window in which you choose which track (or tracks) you want to record on. So with the above display, if you press Track 1 you will record on Track 1 V1 but if you press Track 2 you will record on Track 2 V3.

So the window that shows all the "V"s is important, bbecause it tells you which V track is currently "live", ie routed to output and also available for recording. You switch the V tracks in that window by pressing the +/- button once the cursor is above the appropriate Track, ie if the cursor was under the first "V1" in the above example, pressing + would change the display to V2. The little bolcks in the top right tell you if there is something already recorded on that V track.

It's a bit confusing at first, but once you master that it really opens up the power of the BR.

BTW, I have a piece of paper marked out in blocks like that grid and I make notes of what I've recorded where as I go.

Thanks a lot,  I think I figured it out this time. But boy it's confusing at first.
