Defiantly makes me think of King Crimson.
This is just superb composing.

This is great. I love the 7/8 and the 5/4 stuff and there is some mainstream about too.

Sufjan Stevens, Dave Brubeck and Sting to name a very few.

Love the whole unsettling uneasyness about it. But you have nailed the 'Feel' and the transition to 4/4 is just so sweet. It feels like you have just consolidated the whole thing.

Thanks again, in all honestly I ended up going to 4/4 while attempting to do a fill on the drums in 7/8 so I wouldn't totally lose it, the transition felt a bit "forced" to me, thankfully I got some more lessons a percussionist/drummer (as well as some better "hand me down" heads for my drums) I work with  over the weekend and will be looking forward to giving something along these lines a try as soon as I have the "time"... no pun intended.

That caught my attention too.

I wonder if we're talking...

8-string bass

...or...

8-string bass

I'm guessing the first one.  On a closer listen (and bearing in mind that he has three bass tracks), I think I hear a doubling sound that would come from four pairs of two strings.
