Sadly, one of the few remaining places that sells musical instruments and related "stuff" here in Australia has gone belly up - Allans Music.  I am not surprised as I found them one of the more expensive places around.

Anyway, the liquidators have moved in and as they say, everything must go - 50% to 60% discount on everything.

First I pop in and spot these Cerwin Vega active speakers:  http://hotdjgear.com/review-cerwin-vega-cva-28-active-loudspeakers/
The place is just around the corner from my work so I came back and did a bit of homework to see how good they were and to convince myself that I really did *need* them.  I went back a day or so later ... GONE.

A few days later they had a heap of stuff delivered from their warehouse to flog off.  I spotted a Korg PS60http://www.musiciansfriend.com/keyboards-midi/korg-ps60-61-key-performance-synth.  Now I don't think I really needed a new synth BUT it was only $AUD380 - that is cheap.  Overnight I convinced myself that it would make a great addition to my holiday house and decided to buy it.  Next day at work was CRAP and I didn't leave my desk from when I got in just before 7 until 5:10pm when I ran down to the shop.  Korg GONE.

Along comes this weekend just passed.  I flew from Sydney down to Melbourne for 3 days and knew there was another Allans store down there.  Tey had more stock left including something I reall do *need*.  Some lovely shiny new studio monitors http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/MAudioBX5D2New.html by M-Audio for only $AUD160.  Now that is a bargain.

So overnight I checked that I could add some more baggage to my plane ticket home (these days you don't want to get to the airport with more than your allocated 10kg because you can pay a fortune). All good.  I even convinced the missus they were a great buy. Again back to the shop ... MY new studio monitors GONE just minutes before.

The moral of the story ... he who hesitates is lost.

Bummer! Those M-Audio studio monitors look nice, and the price is incredible. At today's exchange rate, $160 AUD is $166.14 US. I looked them up on Musician's Friend and Sweetwater and they're going for $299 US; nearly twice as much.

That is exactly right 64.  It was a genuine 60% off.  I happened to go past another place that specialises in studio gear.  He looked up what he could get them for wholesale and he said it was way under wholesale price.  I bet he jumped straight in his car and raced over to grab them.

I almost cried when I missed out.
