I'm not entirely sure what a Micro BR is.

It's a pocket-size, digital multi-track recorder from Boss/Roland with built-in condenser mic, effects, and drum machine.

It's discontinued (replaced by the BR-80) but you might be able to get a good deal on a used one. Here's an example:

the one on gumtree might actually be a br80. why would he advertise it as an 8 track recorder. am tempted to call the number myself lol.

there are boss micro br80s for sale on ebay at £155.99 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Boss-Micro-BR-BR-80-Digital-Recorder-/290770210500?pt=US_Pro_Audio_Multi_Track_Recorders&hash=item43b3414ec4 with free postage. are the american versions any different from the uk versions. ie electrical current etc.

I checked it out, and yeah, it looks pretty useful. Boss and Roland is certainly something I'd trust, it's good value for money as well.

I'm just not sure whether I need "effects" and a drum machine - I aim to keep my music natural and organic, what I need is just to improve the clarity of recordings.

a large percentage of members here are micro br users. the site started as microbr.net . anyway i digress. check this link out. is our live in the living room festival. i imagine a lot of the songs on the player will have been done on microi brs. just using it's on board mic. https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?action=festival;sa=LitLR

I listened to the recordings, and yeah, they sure sound really clear. I'm definitely getting one, immediately. I have found one on Gumtree for £55 :O

You can also put the Garage Band app on your I pad for like $10 and you moving and grooving, toss in the thumbjam app and an mbr and you'll never have to pay for studio time!
