Sounds like James Brown and Captain Beefheart in the cellar disco, passing that white-lighting funk bottle back and forth. Complete with lights and disco ball!  :)

The often mentioned James Brown vibe is undeniable. I love that bass groove.

Of course this is disco soul. Bring up the bass some more, give it a punchy mastering, and you are there!
