No sleep for the Children   by: Mach

(Spoken)
My dreams they still haunt me from that dreadful night
As I was out walking in the moonlight
Came up to a field of dark and foggy hate
Chills ran through my spine as a cold and deadened state
Captured by the wind cast into the unknown
With voices, screeches a constant ringing drone
I was taken to a place where serpents slither 'round
And the vines entangled had me gagged and bound
Presented with a sight I did not desire
Hoards of evil witches danced around the fires

(Chorus)
No sleep for the Children trembling with fear
And listen for the sounds they hope they won't hear
In the howling wind the fires burn low the cries ring out
No sleep for the Children the phantom's spell is still about

(Spoken)
Wielded scepters' they possess upon the lunar's gleam
Enchanted on the chosen one and dwelt a shattered dream
The magic guides a laughing stream curse upon the dell
By Sylvan witches all unseen as our tale will truly tell

(Chorus)
No sleep for the Children trembling with fear
And listen for the sounds they hope they won't hear
In the howling wind the fires burn low the cries ring out
No sleep for the Children the phantom's spell is still about

Great job, Mach. Some cool spooky effects there. Can you tell us what you used? -- recorder, software, effects, instruments, etc. And could you post the lyrics? I had trouble making out a lot of the words.

I recorded this on my PC in CEP and some things in Sonar like the fx and mixed it all down through CEP. Some of the fx I pulled from the net like screaming and laughs. I used my Fender Strat and LP through the Johnson J-Station. I can't remember all the settings I used because I never save the tweaks and I usually EQ the guitars differently once they are recorded.

The lyrics (spoken word parts) are knocked down an octave in Sonar to give it a more deeper sinister sound that's probably why it's harder to make out. When I recorded the vocals I did an experimental thing. I took an old condenser cassette recorder mic dropped it down in a cardboard tube and spoke and sang into the tube then added EQ. I will try and post the lyrics later.
