Thanks to the snow, here's a self-penned one I did yesterday. It's two layers of acoustic guitar (my Takamine), and two layers of vocal. One guitar part is a combination of GTR+MIC input, and the other is MIC only.

I changed the rhythm KIT to 'Jazz' on this one. It helps tone down the drums a little, and IMO works really well with more 'acoustic' tracks. I'd recommend anyone to try this, and the effect it gives reminds me a bit of the intro to '50 ways to leave your lover' by Paul Simon.

This song is about being on the Cote d'Azur and being under doctors orders not to drink. There's a bit of a love theme in there too (predictably... !).

Good stuff,
I love the pre chorus!!
After listening through it, I think u should cut a bit of the backing vocal at start of chorus, its a little busy.. Just a thought :)

Great song.  It sounds like something that would be sung on the beach, sitting in a beachside cafe, sipping some blue coloured drink, with the sun beating down hard, sweating slightly.  There is that surprise factor again that is in every song you write, In this case when you get to the pre-chorus? (right after the verse) your voice goes low where I expected it to go high, and it sounds great yet totally unexpected.  I really love it how you do these harmony bits.  I never attempt something like this because I have yet figured out how to make the second voice work yet.  Funny how you write a sunny beach song during a snowstorm.  Lyrically it makes me think of that N.Cage movie "Leaving Las Vegas"  which was also a love story in a strange way.  Very great job for an afternoon snowday project.

Really good Greeny. I'm jealous that creativity seems to pour out of some many here.

Two more fans here! My missus also thinks it's a great song. Do you think any talent scouts come on this site? It seems a shame that there's such an abundance of talent here and no-one out there promoting it in the real commercial world. There are so many 'famous artists' out there that I can't stand (and whom are very rich) and so many musicians here that I could listen to all day and do it just as a hobby.
If the human brain was simple enough for us to understand, we'd be so simple, we couldn't...

i have to agree with jackofall. your talent is waiting to be discovered. and when that happens, all of this will have been worth the wait.

Thank you guys  :)

I'd love to write songs for a living, but I'm realistic about how unlikely that is, lol. We can all dream though.

And you're right - the talent and ability on this site is phenomenal. But the art of self promotion seems to be more important than the art itself these days - which is why mainstream music has now become an excercise in marketing and cynical predictability.

Only one thing is certain - I'll keep writing and enjoying music 'till the end  ;)
