I remember they boasted the CD as being indestructible... I learn'd real quickly they lied... I had a CD player in my car... and went back to cassett due to the skipping on every bump. I also remember the gigantic laser discs they used for video for a while. I wish those would've stay'd on the market for a while... reminded me of the old vinyls with all of the album art... good stuff. My first CD was Metallica "Kill Em All"... Loved that CD.

BTW...CD's make good throwing discs too!!!

My first CD was Dire Straits "On Every Street" which I won off the radio before I even owned a CD player.

It does seem like cds have been around forever, lol. When they first came out I was still in the process of getting all my favorite albums put on cassette tapes and I thought holy crap.....now I have to start all over with a new media! At that point I stopped transferring to cassette tapes, moth balled my albums, sold my turntable, and bought a cd player for way too much money. From that time on I didn't buy another album or cassette tape. It was all cd purchases of my favorite artist.  I still buy cds today but mostly from Independent artist to help them out.....the music is always better than the norm. anyway
