memories of a scottish childhood, i'm sure chunk and kenny mac will recognise some of the places name checked here, considering we all live in the same area. tho the craigton loch is drained and most of the trees on the judges wig have been felled by the forestry commission.

a terribly noisy recording . might try again at some point.
by the hills of old kilpatrick
by the river of the clyde
on the waters of the leven
where i played as a child
sliding scree down from ben cruachan
casting lines into loch awe
watch the mist roll down the hillside
drinking water from the falls
dreaming of the summers long ago
dreaming of the summers long ago
catching rainbows from beneath the rocks
from the burn just down the road
running right back home to cook them
then back to catch some more
getting stung by jaggy nettles
rubbing dock leaves on the sores
spending days just playing in the fields
never going back indoors
dreaming of the summers long ago
dreaming of the summers long ago
walking by the judges wig
to swim in craigton loch
getting soaked in the pouring rain
getting lost in the fog
kicking footballs in the street
playing kick the can
making carts and bogeys
from somebodies auld pram
dreaming of the summers long ago

Great relaxing song, I didn't mind the noise at all.  I actually think it added a bit of lo-fi charm.

Nice one. I like the little guitar break at 1:40. Is that a first for you? I don't recall any of your solo songs having the traditional guitar break in the middle, though I could be wrong.

Beautiful song and great lyrics, though I don't know those places...I just can imagine moorlands of Scotland!

i think you are right there 64. it comes from watching the guys at the ettrick folk night. no matter which song they play they always leave a verse for everyone to join in with their various instruments. so that was the idea for that.
