recording with rhythm

I'm trying to record a song but the drum patterns stop after about a minute, have nothing for 5-10 seconds then play again. I thought that if I chose "pattern" it'll go through the intro, verses, and ending by itself...am I wrong or missing something?

PS-is it possible to record from beginning to end in one session or do I need to lay down an intro first, then the verse etc.??

I'm just using a guitar over the drums thus far and don't know what I'm doing wrong.

The stopping and re-starting is because you're using a preset arrangement. They're only meant to demonstrate the various preset groups and are not practical for use in a song. For that, you should create your own arrangement. See these pages to learn how:

You should also read pages 85 to 88 in the Micro BR manual, 3rd edition.

Appreciate it! I have a lot of work ahead of me...lol

Persevere. The drum arranger seems daunting at first but it's not that bad if you can get to grips with the basic concepts.

I find it easier to use the editor to put down a basic beat for the song. Record everything else and finally edit the drums properly.

Can you explain a little more about the editor? I'm super new to this and have yet to sit down longer than an hour to use it so, obviously being a guy I only looked in the manual a few times. I'm more of a visual learner so if anyone has a video on this topic it would be a huge help.
Thanks in advance.

I'm sure it is better to program the drums but I find it more fun, and fairly easy, to do it real time.  You have to plan a bit ahead for most changes but it comes naturally after a short while.
