Thank you for the birthday wishes.  Nice to know I haven't been ostracized for being an absentee songcrafters.orger (That title sounds weird, but I like it).

Busy year both personally and professionally.  On the downside, there have been some family struggles, a few health issues, an insurance claim that is irksome, and craziness at work.

On the upside, I feel pretty good for a forty-six year old fart and have finally started playing out.  John and I have had five gigs at three venues (with five more on the calendar).  Most of the songs I have posted here have made up our three-hour or so setlists, so I cannot thank this community enough for the valuable and valued feedback.  The last gig even included some of the weird looper/iPad jams I posted before going AWOL.  I long to read somebody's lips, saying "What the &uck?"

I haven't recorded anything proper in many months, but over the summer, I had a couple loose jams at the house with some Deadheads, some of whom I've never met.  This is a trippy LITLR stab at "Lady With a Fan," which is part of the Grateful Dead's Terrapin Station.  I apologize in advance if it is too noodly for you.  I'm playing the acoustic and using a looper and occasional envelope filter, and another guy named Mike is playing a clean electric. The singer (Curtis) is a teacher/camping buddy of mine I've know for 20 years.  The tune was deleted off the recorder after the first mixdown, so the mix is what it is.

I will try to be more present in a few weeks, but we'll see how it goes as I am still pretty swamped.

Peace and happy birthday, Gnasty and kenny mac.

Blooby (Bruce)

Lady with a Fan
The Grateful Dead

Let my inspiration flow in token rhyme, suggesting rhythm,
That will not forsake you, till my tale is told and done.
While the firelight's aglow, strange shadows from the flames will grow,
Till things we've never seen will seem familiar.

Shadows of a sailor, forming winds both foul and fair all swarm.
Down in Carlisle, he loved a lady many years ago.
Here beside him stands a man, a soldier from the looks of him,
Who came through many fights, but lost at love.

While the story teller speaks, a door within the fire creaks;
Suddenly flies open, and a girl is standing there.
Eyes alight, with glowing hair, all that fancy paints as fair,
She takes her fan and throws it in the lion's den.

Which of you to gain me, tell, will risk uncertain pains of hell?
I will not forgive you if you will not take the chance.
The sailor gave at least a try, the soldier being much too wise,
Strategy was his strength and not disaster.

The sailor, coming out again, the lady fairly leapt at him.
That's how it stands today. You decide if he was wise.
The story teller makes no choice. Soon you will not hear his voice.
His job is to shed light and not to master.
