Oldrottenhead

haha not a wrestler, in fact as a teenager he was in jimmi hendrix's band. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_California

he was a guitarist, singer and songwriter and one of the original members of the rock group Spirit, formed in 1967. he died a few years back in hawaii, he and his son where caught in a riptide and he threw his son to safety but drowned as a result.

he wrote hand guns about 1981, as relevant today as it was then, it was released on a british label ,  dont think it was ever released in the usa, but was released as a single over here. there is a toned down version called toy guns, i think in an effort to get airplay and not upset anyone stateside. ;D ;D

anyway all the kudos on this go to 64guitars, it was a joy to hear the song at it's various stages. and yes he put a hell of a lot of work and effort into this one.

take a bow 64.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Quote from: Vanncad on August 24, 2012, 10:36:03 AMWhat did you use for the drums 64?

As Gnasty guessed, I used Hydrogen. It offers a good variety of drum kits. The one I used is called UltraAcousticKit.

For the rolls, I used my Yamaha keyboard which has a snare drum roll mapped to one of the keys in the percussion patches. I recorded a sample of that key into my BR-864, then exported it to a WAV file and pasted it into Audacity where needed.

I also used the Yamaha for the string sounds. All guitars are my Godin xtSA with effects from the BR-864, and the bass is my Gibson EB0.

All mixing was done in Audacity.

I'd not heard it before either... but I did know exactly who Randy California was :D (and I knew of the title for some reason).

New song for me too, but this is just excellent.

The performance and the production of this is so good! If played on the radio NO one would expect it to be other than a professional recording.
