If the human brain was simple enough for us to understand, we'd be so simple, we couldn't...

I was busy playing with my new Br yesterday so missed a lot of posts. Am catching up now.  I am a newbie and I love this place especially Jemima's Kite.  I tell everyone I know (musician friends) about this place and how grate you all are.  I love the songs you do. I really like this one. I download a lot of them and listen at work.  Don't let a few  bad apple spoil this place.  Its' to great and I just found you all.

I have a LOT of catching up to do it seems.

To say I'm dismayed by what has gone on here is an understatement. I'm not angry, just incredibly sad. And part of feels like a personal attack on the volume of my musical output. I know it seems excessive, so let me explain (if anyone can even be arsed to read this)...

Jemima's Kite isn't about proving a point, inflated egos, or taking over this site. It is about pure excitement, passion and being on a musical high. If that sounds trite, let me explain further...

I haven't been in a band since I was 19 years old, and it was a pretty crappy punk band that never went anywere. Since then, I've ploughed my own songwriting furrow, towards what I think is now a recognisable style.

A couple of weeks ago, a natural collaboration started between three like-minded guys. Mike and I are into our second album of my solo stuff, and I'd always wondered what would happen if ORH and I ever teamed up. What happened was an explosion of creative energy - 30 years of guitar riffs that would never have found an outlet in my own songs. I suddenly cut loose and had a whole different way of songwriting open to me. What I do with JK is so different to my usual style, and boy do I find that exciting. And ORH does things with those guitar tracks that I could never think of doing on my own.

I also have a bit of a problem. You could call it obsessive-compulsive behaviour, and you could allude to bi-polar 'highs' of frantic creative activity. Both are applicable. And music is a great distraction when everything else is falling apart. Combine that with ORH's natural enthusiasm and incredible passion for music and collaboration, and you get a pretty frenetic union.

So poor ORH and Flash Harry got sent a whole load of new material. It's not their fault that I went 'off on one'. I've been doing it all my life, and probably always will.

I've collaborated with 9 people on here now. I'll colaborate with many more (including some already in the pipeline). JK isn't about exclusivity or showing off - it's about sheer enjoyment. For me, at least. And I'm very proud of some of these songs. And if anyone thinks I just chucked these out without any effort, they are severely mistaken. These guitar tracks are the result of a lot of time and thought. And late nights.

I just want some harmony on here. After all, I get f*ck all in my outside life.

BTW - I just heard this version of the song for the first time and I love where it's gone. Big thumbs up and a smile from me  :)

Although I'm not even involved in Jemima's Kite, I've felt the excitement and passion too and never thought for a moment that JK had any less-honourable motives for the prolific songwriting. I'm sure that many others here will agree with me. Perhaps other virtual bands will develop out of collaborations from this community but JK is the first and it's exciting just being here to witness it. Keep up the good work guys.
