Oldrottenhead

hi ,
I am oldrottenhead, my real name is james higgins i am from scotland   and am 48 years old going on 16, and have been trying to write songs since about 1977, inspired by the diy approach of lots of early punk bands.
me and my friend donny formed a band called the bunkbeds, the name came about because we only played in the bedroom.
the bunkbeds are now pretty much a solo effort with ocassional friends contributing to my songs.

You are officially welcomed to the forum my friend James!

This is a very talented man, I suggest you hear all of his music.

Did you ever seen the Sex Pistols or other punk bands live? It must have been pretty cool to live the 70's...

No worries, the topic is now splitted.

Oldrottenhead

Very cool... I bet you have a lot of stories to tell then.

Yes, very true sometimes.  ;)

Glasgow seems to have a good music scene. I always seem to read about that city to be associated with every other band.

PS: A title I remembered: Glasgow Mega Snake - Mogwai

Hey James... Was just wondering, given your location and interest in 70's punk if you are/were familiar with an American band that did okay around the UK during that time... called the dBs.   ?

A couple of the founding members were high school buddies of mine in North Carolina and we were in a band together one summer. The dBs didn't get that big around here but (mainly from Googling around much later) I understand they did pretty good over there.

Remember the dB's?

Edit: Not sure if it would be exactly correct to call the dB's punk. Maybe punk turned power-pop?  I actually don't know too much about punk....

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

Oldrottenhead

the name is vaguely familiar, i am sure there was an american band called the decibels tho, but wouldnt have classed them as punk, but they were  certainly alternative/new wave around early 80s, by that time i was listening to local bands like josef k, aztec camera the scars so i  dont think i ever saw them, but im sure john peel (legendary bbc dj/god) played them a few times.
im gonna have a look at www.allmusic.com to see if i can jig any memories
