I started playing this one out just a few months before I stopped doing bar gigs pretty much all together 6 months ago, so it's not one of my better known covers but I've always enjoyed playing it. Of course I wanted to do something different with it and had a few hours between gigs in my car yesterday.I recorded the uke with my suction cup pickup straight into the 004, a bit hot, but it gave it a nice overdrive tone, or that's what I'm calling the clipping. The vocal was through the ps02 mic into the 004, that's a live take. Today/tonight I added the the smooth steel & cello with thumb jam which I now have permanently at my disposal...whoo hooo! Now I just have to learn to use it well! Mixed in audacity.

Oh Yeah!!  I used to play and sing this one back in the day.  I played it country honky-tonk like the Stones.

Your arrangement is an amazing choice for this song, but it WORKS!!!!  The uke might have been too lofty for this song but the stand up bass brings the whole thing down do a more somber mood that fits the song.  Your vox fits right is with the chosen instruments and is what holds it together.

Highly creativce and very well done. ;D ;D
Let it be known, there is a fountain, that was not made, by the hands of men.

Just lovely Mr Hook and that Thumb Jam sure is a great addition. Mighty fine.

So I'm on my wifes laptop and I can' type at all with it. I just typed a small novel and touched something that I shouldn't have and...poof gone, Oh well. I thought I'd share  my current opinions on my submission here.As I listen with headphones I rather like it. I like the blend and for the most part, the tone. I wish I would have kept the tempo up but it's not terrible.
I listen in my car and it's a whole other story. Very tinty and trebly, and rather unpleasant to listen to. I don't EQ very much, opting to try and record the tones I want because I've never felt I had a good ear for it. I've known some people that do and I'm not one of them. With br900 that has worked OK, plus the EQ is quite limited and simple so I'll mess with it if I really have some conflicting frequencies. The Eq in audacity scares me quite a bit, in a perfect world I would have colored dials like on a mixing board but even then...no ear for it.
Using the smaller units and recording in my car is somewhat new to me, hell I've only been playing the Uke since January. I'm pretty used to what my recordings sound like from the br through headphones, monitors and finally through my terrible car speakers but the 004 is a whole new challenge. The difference from headphones to bad speakers is very inconsistent in my opinion. Plus I've only recently tried live takes with the ps02 into the 004 configuration so I'm still not hitting the mark in my opinion.
In summary...I think I will remix this on the br once I gain access to my studio/in-laws apartment.
Thanks, as always, for listening!

I wouldn't worry about the production - this is a great bouncy version of a dark little number Hook. Bitter sweet - and all the better for it! Love it!
