I thought you ought to cover this one... and here it is!

It's got such a brilliant melody that one can hardly go wrong with it, but this is kinda special...

The lack of click probably helps with the final effect... but I suspect it was hell to track! :D

Nice one.

Quoteloving the effect on the vocals, what is it??
i used fornylon effect with noise suppression turned on and tap delay turned on, for each of the three vocals recording to stereo tracks panned full left and right.

i recorded first vocal over the pad synths to stereo tracks bounced, then added sitar synth, bounced, then added second vocal and bounced but wasnt happy with results.

so i did a bounce of just the two juno parts with no vocals to spare tracks, then with the first two vocals i used the left track of the first take and right track of the second take turned them down a bit and bounced that with the new juno mix, both with reverb ramped to the max.

i then recorded the third vocal using same settings as decsribed, a much louder stereo vocal and then mastered it all using the live mode.

hope that makes sense.

:o

Yep, very clear :D

(It's so long since I used the MBR to do anything like this).

But it might explain what I could hear last night (can't check again, I'm at work) - there's huge reverb and stereo stuff happening for the vocal, but every now and then a word seems to come out at you as "dry". I've noticed it on some of your stuff before - whether or not it's intentional or just a complete fluke, it's really effective when it happens.

(I used to think it was because you got closer to the mic for those words - and it still might be that... But however it is... "if it sounds good it IS good"!)

i use the fornylon setting with tap delay turned on for everything now.

the tap delay throws the echo around the full stereo spectrum and every now and again an entire word sticks out during a quiet bit in the music.

it is usually by accident but sometimes i know what i am doing.  ;D ;D

in the cover of satisfaction i used it deliberately when i stopped the music and left just the rhythm going at about 1.25 and you get the no no no echoing everywhere..
