It's time to vote for our next two festivals which will run from July 1 to August 31. Voting starts now and runs for 4 days. You can change your vote any time until the closing of the poll on July 1. To do so, click "Remove vote" to cancel your previous vote, then vote again.

This poll is for the "Theme/Genre" festival. There is a separate poll for the "Artists/Covers" festival here:

https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=15609.0

Please vote in both polls.

Here are descriptions of the Theme/Genre festival choices:

  • CollabsFest - All songs must be collaborations involving three or more members. Who knows; maybe a new virtual band will be spawned from this festival. We encourage people to seek out members they haven't collaborated with before, just to make it more interesting. And no non-members are allowed.

  • Surf Fest - Surf music. Can be original songs or covers of surf classics.

  • ResponseFest - "We all write new original songs that are a reply/response to an existing song. For example I was listing to Help Me Rhonda by the beach boys (i.e. "help me Rhonda, help me get her out of my heart"). A response would be a song from Rhonda's perspective replying to a guy who is basically asking her to be a rebound." These songs are also known as Answer Songs. It's also acceptable to cover an existing answer song.

  • AtmosphericFest - Atmospheric music, also known as Ambient music. Can be originals or covers.

  • JamaicaFest - Reggae, Ska, Rocksteady, etc.

  • JingleFest - Write an advertising jingle for any product or service; real or imagined. Or cover your favourite jingle.

  • HomemadeFest - "All instruments have to be constructed from things lying around the home. Professional manufacturing where it relates to a musical instrument is not permitted."

  • Love Song Fest - Original love songs or covers of love songs.

I have trouble writing anything that ISN'T a love song. It's my default setting, lol.

Still waiting for jinglefest to capture everyone's interest! Another wasted vote, lol.

I think it's an absolute must. I can hear the Central Scrutinizer telling you that your home is at risk.
