Rummaging thru my backup drive and came across this one.  Written before the Tea Party emerged, during one of our bouts of international idiocy.  'Our' meaning everyone involved, but especially US.  No intent to offend, just speaking my mind as clearly as I can.

Recorded in '07 at a friend's home studio.  Live mics on gtr and vox.  Gtr is probably a Northwood.  DD

Don't Tread on Me                                                              George Ballentine  April 2007

Johnny Termain was a fine young man, when he went off to the war
Didn't take long for him to return, a family's hero was no more
Tommy knew John when they fought in Falujah; he was there when he died
He helped John's mom the best that he could, but it hurt him inside when he lied

Johnny died for a reason, a cause that was true, defending the red, white, and blue
We didn't shoot civilians or kill any children, at least as far as we knew
While Haliburton heroes stayed in the Zone, counting the money they earned
Our army of young men was under the gun then, everywhere that they turned

I want to live in the land of the free, spend some time with my family
Live in peace, can't you see?  Don't tread on me.

Now I'm back home with these flag wavin' fools and money makes the rule
I've got a new arm, but my job is gone and my son's havin trouble in school
I pray he'll wise up and get to grow up not need a war to be a man
So all you recruiters stay away from my boy or I'll knock you down where you stand.

I want to live in the land of the free, spend some time with my family
Live in peace, can't you see?  Don't tread on me.

Thanks for listening!

Excellent music, love the playing. And you have a great sounding voice, too.

Wow - powerful stuff! Hits home. A beautiful, un-cluttered and highly effective performance. Great work!
