What's the best way to post a CD?

So I'm wondering what is the best way to post my 2 new collections. I plan on posting on Alonetone and I do like the way they use set lists with the cd cover icon but it's song by song download. I liked it when 64 posted ORH's Uke Songs as a zip file and you got it all in one click, can you change the icon of the zip or is it always the folder with the zipper. I've seen soundclick and soundcloud and reverbnation but I think alonetone is cleaner. Any opinions???

With AT you can also upload a 40MB zip file, never tried it. Not sure how many songs you can fit in, but probably only 4 with high quality mp3.

You are better off to keep a downloadable file size at 100MB or less due to potential timeout problems, etc.

The zip file of oldrottenhead's Uke Songs was hosted on Microsoft's SkyDrive. The zipper icon comes from there too. The icon depends on the file's extension, so all zip files will have that icon. I don't think there's any way to change it.

To link to the zip file, you have to use SkyDrive's HTML embed code. As an admin, I can do that, but regular members cannot insert HTML into their messages for security reasons. There may be a simpler way to link to the file but I haven't found it yet (maybe with the SkyDrive app?). If you can host your zip file somewhere else, you may be able to link to it directly in the usual way with the [url][/url] tags. You can also associate an image of your choosing with it using the [img][/img] tags. However, you might have a hard time finding a free file hosting service that will let you upload a file that big. The great thing about SkyDrive is its high file limits. You can upload single files up to 2GB using their SkyDrive app or 300MB at SkyDrive.com.

Another option to consider is making an ISO CD image of the album. This has advantages and disadvantages depending on what you want and what storage solutions are available to you. On the plus side, a CD image gives you more control over your album since you can specify and lock-in the song order and inter-song spacing. And you can use high-quality WAV files instead of MP3s. On the minus side, the image file is BIG (700MB) and downloaders must burn it to a CD in order to hear the album. Also, they can't extract individual songs unless they rip them from the CD. So, it's a trade-off between control for you as the artist, and convenience for the end users. If you want that control, then a CD image will give it to you, but at the cost of convenience to the downloader. A zip file (or similar archive) is convenient for the downloader but gives you no control over song order, etc.

I kinda like this idea - its $40 for an album though - but you get royalties if people buy.

I don't know if its any good or not, never used it - but Mazz has talked about doing this!
