What about a fest for songs based on a work of fiction... a movie, book or poem even?

We did that in 2011 as FaBFest (Film and Book) but we could certainly have another one.

For a bit of levity....

ImaginaryFest - produce a song for a named (unusual) named (with the song). For example, I produce a song with way too much reverb, and this would be entered into the imaginaryFest, but named as the entry into the CaveFest.

Anything goes, but would need to be a bit wacky, and shouldn't fit into any of the previous fests.

You would have to come up with the imaginary Fest as part of the entry, named in the comments. So examples might be

- Banana Boat songs fest, covers with added Day'o's
- Drunk fest - can only press record when you are under the influence (that may have already been done!)
- Boring Fest - songs about the most boring subject that you can come up with
- Cave Fest - songs played with too much reverb
- Pinky fest - only play the guitar with your pinky (is that even possible, I'm going to have to try that)
- Knobs on 10 Fest - all pedals dial to the max

Shall I pick up my hat on the way out?

Apostate Fest (covers): Songs that we aren't (or weren't) supposed to like, in spite of our current or former musical tribe. Such as a self-identified metalhead covering a folk song. A self-identified punk covering a disco song.

Died on the Vine Fest or Flash in the Pan Fest (covers): Songs by bands that had potential, but left almost no trace. The criteria would be a band that played live and released some music, but is now un-Googleable (or nearly so) – no fan page, no Facebook group, few mentions in the local press. (What wouldn't count: A band that got started, but never got out of rehearsals. A one hit wonder) I'm thinking of Sandbox Supermodels, a Phoenix band that was so good, and fizzled out leaving almost no fingerprints. Perhaps others here have their own Sandbox Supermodels.
