Yip - had to do that old JMJ track - but hopefully never as you've heard it before!

Oh yeah man, I love this.  Your synths sound killer, and that guitar, well.  This is very well done and played, and crafted, and inspired.  I love it.

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places

Thanks BB - I enjoyed doing this one - I remember playing this on a piano when I was a kid - I never dreamt of having a synth, they were big mysterious things back then :-)

excellent Bruno, very nicely done indeed! Loved the synth work, it's all a black box to me, my keyboard skills are -10, so if not for midi I'd be truly lost!

Thanks for the comments guys.

Andy - my keyboard playing is limited - so I use certain tricks to make my life easier. Not on this one (in D minor - which isn't too bad on the keyboard), but have been know to shift the tuning on the keyboard so I'm playing in A minor (all the white keys) - but it comes out in whichever key that the song is in! Also I break things down into a number of tracks, play one thing at a time and play well within my limits - coz if I try to be too clever, it all goes horribly wrong :-) I love sequencers as well - the Korg MS has huge variety here, which is good for me! I'd rather play basically coz its so much faster than programming.

FM93 - production wise - I plug the Korg microstation straight into the BR1600 clean, no effects and in stereo. The micro-station comes with a number of preprogrammed combi selections (drums and sequences) - which are easy(ish) to edit. I don't program anything (which is odd, as I've got 30 years experience at developing software), just play it (warts and all). This one has a base stereo track (drums/bass/sequencer chords), a stereo lead synth track - using the appegiator now and then, manual drum/percussion played in real time and COSM 'heavy' guitar patch. I tend to drive the inputs to the max before clipping. No EQ on this, and virtually no reverb anywhere. I then mastered this one using a 'dance' preset on the BR 1600, which tends to really boost the punchiness and bass. I do use my ears - so listen to the sound. I think mastering is the key to getting the fatness of the end sound up. I mix on headphones (although am looking to get some monitor speakers). And that's it.

I must add - I think the Korg Microstation is brilliant - so small - and yet such as massive sound! And the acoustic sounds (piano, organ) are equally as good!

Very cool!! I like that crunching rhythm going along with the keys. That`s a Korg microsation eh?

Yes that does sounds meaty! I`d like to get a decent organ one day myself. Great work Bruno!
