*WAV CONVERTER* changing sound quality?

i have a similiar problem. i can hear a great mix, balanced etc. once imported to wav or mp3 it is not near as good. i use a behringer mixer and audacity, so while i don't have a BR, i do seem to lose quality once exporting from audacity. if i didn't, i wouldn;t need to do any EQ on the final mix. but i have tons to learn yet.
