Bad luck with Sennheiser cordless headphones

After two years of use, none of it abusive, my Sennheiser TR140 transmitter began working rather erratically.
It would work for a few minutes then the transmitter would stop sending a signal to the headphones.
Other times it wouldn't power up.

After changing everything user-changeable with no good results, I packed the unit up and drove it to
Sennheiser's facility. They are located in Old Lyme, Connecticut. A half-hour ride from my home.

I got a call from them, a week later, stating that my TR140 was repaired and ready to be picked up.
I brought it home, plugged it in and nothing worked. Still would not power up.

That raised a red flag for me.
If the company that markets these devices cannot fix their own product, I am doing business with the wrong people. A bit of searching revealed that Sennheiser products are made in China.
I have no intention of shipping this sucker back to China for repairs.

I now have Sony cordless phones. Very nice and much, much better quality. Digital at 2.4 ghz. Nice and clean.

Take this for what it is worth to you.

Chip, I don't care much where a device is made. I do care that the people selling it in America cannot repair
what they sell. That reduces their products to use-once-and-throw-away status.

If a company could sell you a product that lasted a lifetime, they'd go bust within 10 years. It's called 'progress'.

It's sad... but true. It seems they design these things to have a shelf life... usually right around the time the warranty expires. I've also heard the expression you get what you pay for... I'm not so sure that applies anymore... everything is shit... sometimes you buy expensive shit and other times you buy cheap shit!!! Bottom line your still paying for shit!!!

Very true. Quality has been going down the pan for years. Lots of trouble with the most expensive gear, just as much with the cheap stuff
