Hi all, took me a bit longer than expected but here's a do it yourself that seemed to take for ever. As some of you might know I work in a multi ethnic enviroment and this song was inspired by an eastern european nurse that was born and brought up in Yugoslavia which doesn't really exist any more. Her husband used to tell her there was always a better life over the border and I know she has that now, but will always want to go home if it was possible. Just touches a wee bit on Ry Cooder.............Willie

Enjoy Jim

She said tell me, tell me the story
Of over the border, the land of milk and honey.
Or is it just make believe
Just wishful thinking
Just tell me the story

We lived in a country, that was broken by war
A beautiful country, that isn't no more.
They say the sun will shine on the good and the just
Then how come we're still here
With both our hearts bust

Chorus
I need to live my life
In a summer with no end
I need to live my life
In peace right to the end.

She looked into my eyes, she said take me outta here
I don't wanna go but I cannot stand the fear
There aint noway we can stay for even one more day,
But for now, tell me the story

Beautiful composition.  Great lyrics and great melancholic atmosphere.

Probably the vox could be lower in the mix.  I only mention it because being a self-described "word guy" I always tend to put the voice sound too high rather than letting it blend with the soundscape.

In any case your singing voice is great so maybe this is perfect.

Willie, I love the composition of the song, the playing, the lyrics, and the vox all convey the emotion in this song, running the gamut from desolation to hope. Well done.

What a great song Willie, I loved the mix, your vox sound very cool to me (as someone who's been mixing with h/phones and getting it wrong pretty regularly!). The emotion really carries across in your voice, wonderful song

Lovely song Willie......very real and emotional lyric/story and you sing it well. The synth strings work very well supporting the "sadness" feel of the song. Well done!
