DIY Fest (banner image missing)

Reached Track 100 on my BR1600 - WHOOP, WHOOP!

My entry to the DIY fest. All tracks played, including the drum. No programming, no loops, no pre-programmed beats. Drums on 4 tracks - I played along with a metronome to keep myself in time :-)

Actually it started with an experiment. I wondered if I could get a drum beat out playing on a keyboard, a bit tough as its a mini keyboard and I've got fat fingers - I thought I'd multitrack it as you always end up forgetting which keys you should be pressing and forgetting the beat if you try and do it all at once. Then I thought I'd bounce to a drum track, and slice into samples - picking the best bar (if I'd done that, it wouldn't have qualified for DIY fest - so a good thing I just ended playing the whole lot).

No guitars - just the korg microstation
Good fun - I thought it would sound out of time and generally crap - but I quite like it - I thought it was quite mental!!

Blimey Bruno, this is very cool! Very prodigy like in it's feel and energy, podgy fingers or not those keys sound great! And you kept it all together as far as my old ears can tell, excellent listen. BTW I know what you look like, and I now have a vision of you dancing around Kilby in Firestarter mode....

very cool

A very different sound from you bruno but a good one! The synth is killer and the drums work well for finger drums. I'm not sure I could stay in time for that long even with a click track as a guide. Well done!

Hi Bruno, you've captured that eastern feel. Can't fault the musicianship (it's great) a slithery, snakey feel for sure. Top notch........Willie

Thanks all - had a lot of fun doing this. Everyone had gone to bed, and it was tv or play keyboards. Started at about 10:30, was going to play for 20 minutes or so .... got to bed at around 1am!

Mrs B reaction in the car this morning. Urrrhhh - horrible. TURN IT OFF, TURN IT OFF NOW!!! How can you produce Road to Brook and then produce THIS! Sounds like someone has stepped on a cat!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Farrell - 4 tracks tracks, one finger for each track - one at a time - still was testing/experimenting and I'm not a drummer, I can't co-ordiante 4 limbs at the same time :-)

Hook - thanks bro - had great fun with this one - we should do some electronica, what'd'ya recon ??

Andy (I should explain to the other songcrafters, that despite being on the site for several months and posting to Andy, I suddenly realised that I used to work with Andy, we used to talk about guitars and his wife still works in the same building as me - now what's the chances of that!). I think I was in the mood today to get my hair done al-la Firestarters - although wouldn't go down that well, but the normal state of my hair - would anyone notice? :-)

NOTE - No cats were injured during the recording of this track :-)
