Hi All,

Long time, no hear..........

Thought i'd post this recording of Kayla doing a song called "Good Things Take Time". She recorded it in the lounge room a week or two ago. It was simply using an external mic with her singing and playing acoustically at the same time, one take, no overdubs.

Kayla is now all of 11 years old and her voice is starting to come along pretty well (i think so anyway, but then i'm a little biased). She's definitely leaning towards mostly acoustic stuff and doesn't play that much electric these days. She has picked up a bit of lap slide guitar using a converted guitar with higher nut and bridge and has one of these on order (purchased from money she has already earned doing the odd gig around town).

The song was written by some friends of ours who perform in a duet called "The Hussy Hicks" who are currently in Alabama and have been for some time. They occasionally tour through the USA so if you see them in your town check them out....they are great.
Just a roadie again.....

Wow - her singing voice is very mature for 11 - normally you can hear youngsters singing - but not Kayla. Very nice indeed. Very nice control and great tone in her voice.

absolutely, totally fabulous.  This girl is going places.  That is a very mature voice for 11 years old.  You should be proud of her.  Thanks for posting this, I really enjoyed listening to this.

Thanks for the kind comments folks....

She won a small scholarship last year and has used the money for singing lessons and they have paid off big time. She's finished now and we'll probably look at some more lessons in a couple of years time.

Yes, she does make her dad proud....although i can't help but think what a real freak she'd be if she actually enjoyed practising......she loves performing on stage but has to be bribed (with not being allowed to do gigs  :D) in order to get her to practice.

For anyone who hasn't seen or heard the girls before (and possibly doubt that this is the recording is of an 11 year old) here's a link to live videos of them. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=UUrKP9RIOHboit6yaleXMeBQ&feature=plcp

So nice to listen to Kayla. She is naturally talented, practice just refines what she already possesses.

A gifted musician.

Give her whatever instrument she wants. You will never be sorry you spent the money.
