battery life on the br-80

hi all,
I've been going through the br-80 thred and found nothing about battery life....
I want to use it mostly as a field recorder and that is my only concern for the moment.
on the manual it says 6 hours, but I've learned not to count on it. (using the br-600).
if you have any expereince using it on batteries, please share it here :)
thanks

I have only just got mine but I put some newly recharged batteries in yesterday. The batteries are 2200nn?, I have pressed every button, recorded, took it to work, played about with it for an hour, pressed another million buttons and the battery charge is still full. The MBR was very good in the battery department too. I always use rechargable batteries of various strength, so I would say, so far very good. Don't let it put you off.

thanks chip. do you think it can really last 6 hours? i really like my br-600 it's awesome but i need a recorder that runs on batteries for recording outdoors. so now i am debating over the br-80 vs. the zoom h2n. in terms of battery life the zoom takes the lead but the 8 tracks and boss effects are too temptating.

I tend to do shorter sessions than 6 hours, but the BR-80 seems to consume batteries at a similar rate to my Micro BR. Not sure if that helps you to decide, but if the Zoom has better battery life on spec compared to the BR-80 and that's very important to you, then it should be a significant factor in your purchasing decision.

I suppose it depends on what you want to do with it. What have you got planned for outdoors? Do you need 8 tracks?
I always have some spares charged up in case. Again today I have been playing with the 80 mainly the drums, the batteries are still fully charged. Anyway depending what you want to do, there is always the MBR.

8 tracks are important to me as well as recording quality. so far i am pretty convinced that the br80 is the one but like i said i will be extremely bummed out if it turns out it runs down after 4 hours (that's presumably the time it takes me to record and bounce one to two songs). as for the mbr - isn't it a case of 'the king is dead long live the new king?

i am recording (playing with effects + overdubing + editing and then bounce everything). don't use external mics (from what ive heard the internals are good). just playing with my acoustic and singing. usually don't even add a rythm section
 thanks for your help.

Well I reckon you may just get 4 hours but just get some batteries ready to throw in. Mine went last night after messing for two days and serious recording for 2 hours last night. As for the MBR being the dead king, some on here still have and use their MBR's to great effect. I think the 80 will do you fine.

I have had my BR-80 turned on for a full 4 hour gig, and recorded a shitload while I was at it. There was plenty of battery life left in it when I shut it off. As far as getting 6 out of it..... I can't tell you anything for fact beyond 4 hours with run of the mill alkaline batteries.

The BR-80 doesn't seem to be very battery hungry at all !

I use  Eneloop Pro 2500mAh NiMh and played for several hours yesterday and for a couple of hours today and the indicator still show full load.

I usually dont like battery operated equipment but the BR-80 doesn't make me look nervously on the battery meter all the time.

I can definitely recommend  Eneloop Pro - 2500mAh NiMh rechargeable batteries. They are simply great.
