Would you let someone else play your guitars?

I'll let anyone play my guitar, because then I might learn something. And thats all I'm here for...

I'd let anyone play my guitar as long as I was right there with them the whole time....

I've already let kids at a birthday party pluck around with my Kramer - but I was right there monitoring......and did get nervous a few times.

They all really got a kick out of playing through my line 6 - their parents were all getting scared ;)

I know what Fenderbender means about the peg turning thing. A friend came over and picked up my violin (which was about 2 weeks old) and immediately started turning the pegs. I asked if he knew how to tune it, and of course he didn't. But the WORST was when my brother came over with his kids and his daughter tried to ride my sitar like a hobby-horse. The body (which is made from a big gourd-pumpkiny thingy) cracked straight away, and about 9 strings broke. After they left I actually cried. I've never played it since. It still has her footprints on it. Years of therapy will never heal that one.

Man, I even got emotional reading that. If I know kids are coming over to my house, then all guitars go away into their cases.  Then they just look like luggage and not toys.

But at other times, any of my family (and adult visitors) are allowed to play my guitars.  Mainly because they are mostly sitting on stands in the living room and I can't be bothered putting them away.
