Hello!

Here's the first ukulele tune I've written. I purchased uke in February and I'm a bit hooked on it  ;D . I sent the music track to James and here we go; here's our baby  :D Thanks James, again.

Edit: hmm...in Audacity the duration is 1'59, but the player says it is 2 mins...?

Thanks for the listening,

Kari

Baby
Three tracks of uke. The strummed one in the center and fingerpicked panned to the left and right. I used For Nylon preset (delay off). Recorded on MBR.

Chords:

Chorus: G, Bm7, Cmaj7
Verse: F, Am, Gm, C
Baby why the funny face
Baby is it something i said

There's a look on your face tells the tale
Of a boy done wrong

There's a look on your face that sez
I should run

But i'm gonna hang around
I fancy a cup of char

Get the kettle on

Baby we can put things right
Baby i'm gonna mend my ways

So i'm gonna hang around
I fancy a cup of char
Get the kettle on

Baby i'm just a simple lad
Baby i don't mean to be bad
Baby whatever i've done
Baby i'm sorry i am

There's a look on your face tells the tale
Of a boy done wrong

Audacity's showing 2:00.03.  But with tighter trimming of the silence at the ends, it would be 1:58, so it qualifies.

Perhaps you saw 1:59 in the WAV file? The MP3 format pads the front of the file with a small amount of silence (around 40 or 50 milliseconds, I think). So, if your WAV file was 1:59.63 and you then exported it to an MP3 file, the additional 40 ms. of silence would make it 2:00.03.

thanks kari this was fun to do, i thought i couldn't do anything with this until i realised i had to jump right in at the beginning, with 2 minutes there is no time for an intro. watched the kinks at the beat club on sky arts the day before so i think i was heavily influenced by ray davies on this one.

Well jumped! There's no time for intros in two minutes tune :)

Now, I know why it is two minutes, not 1'59. I shrank it to 1'59 in Audacity, but posted 'criminal' version by chance. I can post the correct version if needed...

Super cool little song, the Uke sounds superb Kari. The way you have mixed the strummed and finger picked parts really gives a nice full sound

Jim's vocal flows effortlessly over the top of it, and I definitely hear a Kink's influence here.

I acquired a Uke a few weeks ago...just gotta learn enough chords to write a song now ;)

Very nice collab, fellas!

I like the trad ukulele sound you got, and find your chord structure to be very interesting! Nice happy sound in Jim's vox that matches the feel from uke, too.

Hook

Yep yep yep, all I can do is echo other comments, great tuneage! I love the panned uke, in fact I love the uke in general (in case you didn't know) and those 7th chords just flow out of these 4 string wonders. I also find your progression very interesting & love the vocals orh! Well done gents!
Rock on!
