This is so freaky that i can take it only in small doses. But the intensity Marc Ribot puts into his playing. Breaking a string on the first song of the set :D

I prefer the dark side mix if I'm honest but the album is damn good and wonderfully produced.

Thanks for the heads up on this... gonna check it out

Marc Ribot under-appreciated. So under-appreciated that even I don't fully appreciate him. I know of him as a sideman who appears on albums of more established artists, for when they want a bit of outsider guitar that only Ribot can provide.

Quote from: WikipediaHe has worked extensively as a session guitarist. He has performed and recorded with Tom Waits, Caetano Veloso, John Zorn, David Sylvian, Jack McDuff, Wilson Pickett, Arto Lindsay, T-Bone Burnett, Medeski, Martin and Wood, Cibo Matto, Sam Phillips, Elvis Costello, Tift Merritt, Allen Ginsberg, Foetus, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Susana Baca, The Black Keys, Vinicio Capossela, Alain Bashung, McCoy Tyner, Elton John, Madeleine Peyroux, Marianne Faithfull, Diana Krall, Mike Patton, Stormin' Norman and Suzy Williams, Neko Case, Joe Henry, Allen Toussaint, Robert Quine, Ikue Mori,3 and others. Ribot was a member of The Lounge Lizards for several years in the late 1980s. Band leader John Lurie later wrote: "Marc is a musical genius. So many ideas are coming out of that guy that it is actually often a problem."4

So many people think that Chicago is a "ballad Band".  Well, they should listen to this track  from the first album (Chicago Transit Authority).  They lost original guitarist Terry Kath to an accidental gunshot wound in 1978 and they never were the same since.  The first 11 albums were with him and before they were locked into the "ballad" distinction.  "Poem 58" is my fav on the first album.  It has a long guitar led jam for the first few minutes then breaks into an incredible blues rock groove with more Terry Kath sweetness.  Listen to the whole thing.  You won't regret it.

I know a few folks that won't be impressed... but I tell you what... I think this kicks ass.

I could leave home to be in a band like this.

That is a very cool performance Stephen! I've always liked Uriah Heep's songs but haven't followed them much. It's great to see all those white haired guys still out there doing it! Thanks for posting this up.
