I can't hear The Banana Boat Song without thinking of Dr. Johnny Fever of WKRP in Cincinnati.

In the season 4 double episode called "An Explosive Affair", he sang the following lyrics while drumming on a toolbox which, unbeknownst to him, contained a bomb.

Day-O! Day-ay-ay-o
Daylight come and me wanna throw up   :D

Of course, the other thing that comes to mind is the scene from Beetlejuice. That was a classic too.

Quote from: Tony W on April 28, 2011, 09:07:09 PMdoes anyone find it ironic that this is the largest thread on the forum, and the guy who started it hasn't logged on in nearly 3 years?

I don't find it ironic. The guy was a visionary...

On a couple of occasions recently, I've had to look for Creative Commons licensed music to use in YouTube videos for work (because my employer doesn't pay me to create music on his clock).

This piece is very simple and repetitive, yet somehow endlessly interesting--and it worked great as background music.

Edwyn Collins, such an inspiration. He suffered a stroke in 2005 and has worked hard at regaining his speech. He is still unable to play guitar due to limited movement in his right arm but he's writing, recording and playing live once again.

Here is his latest with Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos on guitar and Paul Cook from the Sex Pistols on drums:
