Earl Scruggs was a hero of mine growing up.  I played a little (very little) banjo as a child.  This man was a true master.  You may have heard "The Ballad of Jed Clampett" from the Beverly Hillbillies TV show.  Maybe not.  I've attached "Earl's Breakdown" from "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" which was a collaboration of bluegrass greats.

I know that this site is mainly rock music, but rock owes its existence to many other genres.  I count bluegrass among these.  I believe that this site also celebrates virtuosity.  Earl Scruggs exemplifies the qualities to which we all aspire.  He was also open enough to work folk, jazz, and rock into his repertoire.

A great musician: Earl Scruggs.

The Beverly Hillbillies theme is great.  In 1975, I saw Jeff Beck perform this on a Strat. Blew my mind!

Looks like I goofed by posting a copyrighted song.  Thanks to 64Guitars for correcting that.  Great video.  That was Lester Flatt commenting at the end of the video.  He's another great one.

You aren't the only bluegrass fan on here. There's quite a few I think. And personally, I love it. Scruggs was the master of the genre - not to mention an absolute virtuoso on that banjo. Could listen to that banjo picking all day.
