MedleyFest?

Count me in. Well in.

And having done the Abbey Road medley previously, I can say that medleys can* be quite tricky but are very satisfying.

*The secret is simply ending and starting each section on the same chord. Even if the tempo is different, a hanging chord will seamlessly blend into the next part if you overlap them nicely.

Got to admit, I am of the same opinion.

But on the subject of Fest's did anyone think 'DEADFEST' was a good idea, mentioned it in the ideas for the community thread.

I am not a big fan of truncated songs in a medley, but I am a huge fan of bands that seamlessly move from one song into another. This form of risk-taking (when truly improvised) is one of the things I enjoy about the jamband scene.

I am so invested in this notion that I am in the process of creating a website to facilitate this possibility for future (and possibly imaginary) gigs. My thought was to create a database of the songs John and I do with notes about their keys as well as other possible transition chords. We would then go out without a setlist and try to do a seamless set by the seat of our pants, complete with musical interludes or brief soundscapes.  We tried it in practice a few times, and while it was nerve-racking, it was also quite  a blast.  The site is here if anybody is interested (I have asked permission due to some links).

In a nutshell, I am all for Medleyfest.  I would love to see what folks create.

I also want to publicly thank the administrators once again for all they do.

I'm not too keen on that idea. It's a bit too all-inclusive for me. Many of us here are in our fifties or thereabouts and much of the music we listen to is from the heroes of our youth, most of whom are now dead. Since most of the songs we normally play are by dead artists anyway, a DeadFest wouldn't be much of a challenge. I prefer festivals that challenge us and inspire us to create music we wouldn't normally try.

This guy is really good and i don`t mind medleys as long as you pick the right ones to
gel together. You do realize this is Beatles into Eminem right? What a travesty!!
I seriously dislike talent shows because of the infomercial audience. They started
clapping before they even knew what the next song was!!

I don't mind medleys. I used to do several when performing live....they were fun and the crowd liked them. A medleyfest would be interesting to hear what folks stitched together.
