Hi ya. Bit confusing... right. Yep it was when I read it this morning, must of been the beer last night.  I am going for the DC 9 pedal, cheap but may get the jangle.

Compressors are a need to my clean lush sounds, think Andy Summers (The Police) he used Dyna comp too, is different to the dbx in many ways but i don't replace the pedal for the rack, use both! If you increase the sustain control you'll start to hear some subtle armonics of your guitar in your face.
When using distortion or overdrive pedals or even crunch amps after it's a different story, you can keep the tone but adding sustain, of course you have to pay atention to the sustain/noise balance.
I love my boss CS2 as my first pedal, give it a try and tell us!!!

Hi and thanks.. I have bought the DC 9, £23 free delivery. Yes I said 'no more pedals' but I am trying to get a more jangly sound for the Petty covers without spending a grand on a Ric or £300 on the Italia or £200 on a janglebox. I will try it with the Strat and the Tok Firebird ( the latter with the one bridge mini humbucker) I have no idea about these sort of pedals, so any info is great to here.

The behringer athough cheap ( and I have had then before, they were ok too) is I believe the MXR clone. The ( Behringer) Bugera V22 is a very neat amp by the way, I take it to gigs and use the Laney 15 for a back up or sometimes both for different guitars. The clean on the Bugera is to die for and the OD ain't bad either... Very well put together boutique amp that doesn't cost the earth but looks like it does.

I've only played around with the compressors built into my BR-864. I find them disappointing because, as the original signal fades, the compressor compensates by boosting the signal which also boosts the noise. It isn't long before the noise is louder than the signal, making it practically unusable for my purposes.

I'm intrigued by the videos of the new Philosopher's Rock by Pigtronix. They say it "features Pigtronix's unique optical circuit that provides transparent compression with endless clean sustain". Judging by the videos, it really does sound clean. I hear no noise at all.
