Here's a cheery little ditty that Blooby and I put together the other night.  It's still new, unrefined, unrehearsed, unkempt, etc.

See what happens when you lurk for 2 years? nobody comments on your music. Take your lumps.

The vocals are outstanding as always. The playing on the guitar is stunning. I enjoyed the recording.

On the extended listens, I have a couple questions.

Why would you plug in the acoustic? I don't know if I'm in the minority, but I much prefer the sound of a mic'd acoustic over being plugged in because it loses dynamic quality.

The second question pertains to the reverb. at times it sounds ok, but not when there's a muted chop. Is there a better choice for reverb on an acoustic that provides a more realistic quality?

You bastard!!!

That was a joke.

I very much appreciate your honest feedback.  As much as I love the positive vibe that exists on Songcrafters, there are times I long for some more constructive feedback.  I would not trade the former for the latter, though.

To respond, I plug in not for sonic quality but for simplicity.  At this point, John and I play to prepare for upcoming (yet strangely non-existent) gigs.  The recordings are always afterthoughts.  I record everything we do and post them to Google sites.  I must have 30 of them or so by now, the thought being that folks would listen to critique themselves or in my case, shame me into preparing more completely.

As for the reverb, I agree.  I tried a plate reverb for experimentation's sake and went overboard.  I was just twisting dials in different directions to see what would happen. The muted chop was where I noticed it as well.  Good ears.

Thanks again for the critique.

Yes - I love it.

You both are so gig ready it's not even funny - You better record record the show when you play somewhere!

Peace,

Mark
