If This Is It - a new Farrell original

"If This Is It" is a new one one that is almost completed......it just needs the real drums which I'm waiting on to get here. This version has the scratch drums for timing purposes. I recorded it all yesterday on my Fostex VF160.

I used my LP into an Epiphone EP1000R solid state amp mic'ed with a Shure SM57 for the electric guitar rhythm. I added an acoustic backing rhythm direct with the Taylor GS Mini. 6 tracks of vocals using an MXL V9000 tube mic. The bass is a Jazz into a Behringer V-amp using a Fender white amp modeler patch played with my fingers. The harmonica is a Hohner Pro Harp mic'ed with the V9000 mic. The scratch drums are from a Zoom MRT3 machine.

The most difficult and time consuming process of this whole recording was finding the right guitar/amp/mic to get the full rhythm sound I was after. It took me more than two hours to find the right combination which turned out to be the most basic of all the set ups I tried. The K.I.S.S. method (Keep It Simple Stupid) proved itself once again 

That's about it on the technical end. This is at soundclick for now. Once I get the real drums/mix/master complete then I'll post it to my jukebox.

    Yep. Plug it in and play. As long as it's in tune, just go. That's my preferred method.

           Great song, production, vocals and yes, the guitar sounds wicked.
