I do my best to keep my guitars in pristine condition so why would I want one that looks like it has it's finish sanded off and then beat with a hammer? I wouldn't. I'd rather have an old vintage guitar the looks new because it was taken care of on the road.

Someone going mad with a sander and knocking lumps off a new guitar
holds no attraction for me -
considering if you bang a guitar off anything -a nervous breakdown is nearly par for the course
I'd expect to get it for nearly nothing

So true, Ken. My newest guitar is 29 years old. They've all been played, and some of them modified, over the years and they still look like new. The only thing that looks battered and worn is me.

Okay I was in the guitar shop a few weeks back and they had the aged stratocasters and a couple guys were
asking the young sales guy why they make them like that.
He gave a few answers but the one that stood out was he said "If someone broke in your place they probably
wouldn`t steal it thinking it`s a crappy guitar 

I`ve seen them up close and they look horrible. I could make a guitar look better with a blowtorch.
