Take a good look at this picture. What do you see that is wrong with this rifle?

The odd thing about it: Rifles don't use silencers. They are not effective for bullets that travel faster than sound.
Good on pistols, though. This has to be a movie prop.

That's a misconception Gene

There are significant advantages to using noise suppressors on rifles.

Reduced need for hearing protection especially for bystanders

Reduce recoil of the rifle

Increased accuracy

reduced muzzle blast and flash

I've owned and fired a Remington 22-250 for many years. The muzzle blast is terrific.
Can be heard for a mile or more. I was loading 31 grains of 3031 powder, pushing a lead hollow point bullet.
The barrel was leading up due to the lead bullets softening. This forced me to use full copper-jacketed rounds.
Chronographed muzzle velocity, just over 3800 FPS. Sounded like a clap of thunder upon firing. Very hot loads.
Accurate out to 600 yards. Any chuck that popped up within that range was instant toast.

I had the gun free bored so it would take the pressure of hot loads without coming apart.
The cases could only be reloaded once before splitting at the neck.
I doubt very much that any type of suppressor would have quieted this gun down to tolerable levels.
It would have been shot out after two or three rounds went through it.

Probably why I've never seen a suppressor on a .50 caliber Barrett sniper rifle.

Want quiet, shoot a pistol with a bath towel wrapped around it. Just need to decouple the muzzle blast from the atmosphere.

did you happen to notice the watermark on the photo? That would have been a much more likely giveaway.

Gun talk.....wish I could join in, I'd love a gun. I would definitely get some kind of shotgun, sawn off. And a hand gun. Something big. And I'd get some kind of holster. The sort that goes under your jacket. Yep.
