This is my first post and my first recording.  I tried to post before but think I botched it.
Anyway, the recording is a bit rough, so is the guitar playing, but I think I am getting it.  Any constuctive criticism would be much appreciated.
Thanks Harry

I disagree with your thinking your playing is rough.  Very nice - I want to hear more!  ;D

I will suggest you post your guitar tracks w/o the percussion and get the entire recording included since it got cut short for some reason.

I'd like to try editing some drums for it as it sounds out of sync with the down beat in wrong place (at least to my ear) just to hear the difference.  Just need the BPM you used.

Or you can try shifting the guitar tracks yourself prior to mixing down.

Of course you may want the effect you are getting with it.  Will be interested to hear what others think on the subject.

How come everyone on here plays better guitar than me?! Yet another skilled lead player makes his entrance  :D

This is excellent. Doesn't really matter about the recording quality when you can play as sh*t hot as this. You already have the talent, so you can worry about learning the mastering / mixing part later  :)

Very nice.  Your tone is sweet.  I am curious what kind of guitar and what effect setting?  I like your note selection (there is a little more than just the minor Pentatonic scale going on here).  I think it sounds great.

Well, thankyou for all the flattering comments.  My hat size has grown a bit.
As for the gear I am using, that was a Hagstom Viking reissue, plugged straight into the BR.  The effect was No. 5 which I altered just a little as the pre-set had too much gain for my liking.

True, the drums and guitar were way out of time.  Two things to account for that; 1. I did this in a rush, and 2. I was playing straight into a mono guitar amp, sterio out, into mono in, and think I was missing something in the mix.

Next time I think I'll just play into the cans.

It was recorded at 80 BPMs

Yes, there is more that pentatonic stuff going on there.  I cut my teeth on Charlie Parker and Joe Pass, and when I play I use a combination of Blue scale, Arpeggios, Major scales and their modes, and some altered pentatonics, eg: I will play a Blues scale with both the Minor 3rd and the Major, this gives me chromatic movement , say in the key of c, C Eb E F F# G Bb.
For further chromatic movement You can add the 6th (A) and the 9th (D).

SRV commonly used the 9th
BB King uses the 6th a lot.

I might add that all these alterations should be used sparingly as it soon loses its bluesy flavour if overdone.

Listen to Charlie Parker play Parker's Mood, in my opinion the finest blues solo ever recorded.

Well that's enough from Rev Harry ;-).  Sorry for the lengthy post.  I tried to answer everyone.

The blues is alive and well down here in OZ (getting paid for it is another matter)
Cheers
Harry
