Haven't been downtown to that part of W-S lately but can tell you that had you known back then you were pretty close to Camel Pawn Shop (W-S sometimes called 'Camel City' ... after the cigs) and you could have easily spent the 5 hours in there taking all kinds of guitars down off the wall and playing.

Just curious...On the topic of W-S and Americana:  There is a Winston-Salem artist who reportedly charted in Top 10 in Americana genre in UK at some point in the last two years - Sally Spring.  Ever hear of her?  Her husband Ted now plays guitars and dobro w/Sally but Ted and I played in a W-S band (The Ragged Edge :D) back in the day in around '68-'69. Ted played drums then.  Got to see them in a small venue about a year ago and was fun to catch up w/Ted after 40 years or so.

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

Was just listening to her songs - I really like them. She has an amazing voice, and the arrangements are beautiful.

Super song. Love this, no gimmicks, just great playing, singing and the whole thing just has a great comforting feel in the same way that The Eagles do sometimes.
