Yeah great Bruno/Mazz ------ a real quality recording.

I like the artist too, will check her out later, reminded me of Tasmin Archer, you 2 should cover sleeping satellite, you could really nail that one.

I think this is one of my faves of this fest so far!!

 ;D

(Mazz does sound like Tasmin Archer!!)

Thanks for the comments all.

Burtog - I must admit not to knowing Tasmin's music - but having done some research, I really like her music and Tasmin is quite a singer! Thats quite a compliment for Mazz - thank you. Thanks for the suggestion - may see if Mazz is happy to have a go at this!

On this day bump - I've always loved this song, great lyrics.

Should add this song in nothing to do with 50 shades of crap, but a song about Amanda herself and racial prejudice. Amanda had/has a white father and black mother, hence the line

"When my grandmother held me for the very first time
She thanked God I looked like my daddy"

which I think is a devastating line.

The tenant of the song is when we die, we are all shades of grey.

Worth adding the full lyrics, they are some of my favourite lyrics in any song, as they are so personal and tell a story.

"Shades Of Grey"

I was an August baby
Conceived by the Christmas lights
I came into the world by the setting sun
On a humid summer night
When my grandmother held me for the very first time
She thanked God I looked like my daddy
And I never quite knew just what she meant
But I knew she was a little too happy
And now I see
You can't change a stubborn mind
You can't see the world if your eyes are blind
What does it matter anyway
In our darkest hour we're all just shades of grey

They got married in a tiny chapel
1965
Malcolm X was on the radio
When he took her as his wife
And she looked so pretty that September day
And her older brother cried as he gave her away
And the minister looked like he didn't know what to say
And then he spoke
You can't change a stubborn mind
You can't see the world if your eyes are blind
What does it matter anyway
In our darkest hour we're all just shades of grey

And when my grandmother held me For the very first time
She thanked God I looked like my daddy
And I never gave a damn just what she meant
But I knew she was a little too happy And now I see
You can't change a stubborn mind
You can't see the world if your eyes are blind
What does it matter anyway
In our darkest hour we're all just shades of grey
In our darkest hour we're all just shades of
Darkest hour we're all just Shades of grey
Hey, Hey, Hey
It doesn't matter anyway
Don't give a damn Don't give a damn
Don't give a damn
what they say
We're all just shades of grey
We're all just shades of grey
Shades of grey
