G'day

Ive had a go at one of Jimi's tunes -Little Miss Lover (Axis),but arranged it a bit different by adding some extra bits because the original only clocked in at @ 2 minutes. Also most of the lead fills and solo is what I made up because you have to really practice for a long time to get Jimi's lead playing sort of ok.

Recorded on my BR800,so put on your loudest flowery shirt and get a nice cuppa herb tea and I hope you like it.  8)

Please leave any advice on improving the recording.

Cheers

Wiley

:D :D  I have to admit your a little out side of my music box. LOL  But I can still appreciate good skills.   Your tones were excellent.  I would like to hear you fill it out more. Bass etc.   Way to go!!

Gee, this is a tough one to reply to for me. I'm a huge Hendrix fan. Ever since I first heard him in the mid-sixties, he's been my #1 favourite guitarist and overall musician by far. So I've never liked hearing anyone cover him -- not even pros like Stevie Ray Vaughan or Eric Clapton. This huge prejudice makes it hard for me to give a positive review af any Hendrix cover.

However, I think you've done a pretty good job of capturing the sound and feel of the song. The wah sounds quite good. Did you use the BR-800's wah effect with an expression pedal attached, or did you use an external wah-wah pedal? The song could certainly use some vocals but you did a pretty good job of the music. Still, nobody can come close to Hendrix in my opinion. :)

Found this in the overlooked Gems Box.

And It IS a Jewel of a track!

The Background on the player went with the tune.

Well done !! Not easy walking in the footsteps of the masters, but you've done a good job here bobtail. Like 64G I'd like to hear som vocals on it, but the music is good.

I listened to this a couple days ago. Thought i commented! This is awesome Bobtail! I love that wah.
I agree it needs vox but sounds great on its own too and the production is stellar!

Thanks everyone for having a listen to this recording,I went for this song because I havent really heard anyone cover this song and its not one of Jimi's well known songs,.......and for the cool wah pedal rythum :).I wasnt around when Jimi was here but hes one of my favourites too.

I would like to be able to sing but i'm a bit shy and havent really tried before.(or chicken)
The recording was done micing up my amp and straight into the BR800 with no extra fx except a crybaby wah which I slightly modded for rythum ,and I used a digitech chorus for the solo and outro because I dont have an octave pedal.A CIJ strat for guitar.

Thanks OsCKilo for posting the overlooked gems box, never noticed it before.
What are the overlooked gems and member jukeboxes about?

64G --Did you see him play live ?

There's an octave effect in the BR-800. See page 75 of the BR-800 manual.

QuoteWhat are the overlooked gems and member jukeboxes about?

The member jukeboxes play all of the songs posted by a specific member, or a random mix of 12 songs from all members. For example, your jukebox currently has three songs:

https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?action=Playall;u=5274

Overlooked Gems is a new jukebox I created a couple of weeks ago. Songcrafters is a very busy site and nobody has time to comment on every single song that is posted here. So unfortunately, good songs are sometimes overlooked. The purpose of the Overlooked Gems jukebox is to draw attention to overlooked songs so that they'll get some comments. It automatically includes all songs posted more than 48 hours ago which have less than three replies. When they get three or more replies, they're automatically removed from the Overlooked Gems jukebox.

Your song appeared in the Overloooked Gems jukebox because it only had one comment after 48 hours. It now has six comments, so the Overlooked Gems jukebox seems to be effective. When I created the jukebox two weeks ago, it had 225 songs. Now it's down to 204 songs. Hopefully, the playlist will continue to get smaller as people discover more of the great songs in it and comment on them.

Quote64G --Did you see him play live ?

Unfortunately, no. I was only 14 years old when Jimi died. He did perform in my city once but I had no money for tickets and no way of getting to the concert. But I have all of his official albums plus many of the posthumous releases, as well as a few concert DVDs.

Agreed. He really was something else. His hands were absolutely huge. I've got a picture of him, thumb over the top of the neck, fore finger on the 7th fret of the G string, ring finger on the 10th fret of the B string. Just try and do it with your thumb over the top of the neck. He was just amazing on so many levels...

      Great cover, by the way!!
