What about bass playing? Funnily enough, I use my pinky more when I play bass, but that's probably because I have small hands so on a bass I have to use four fingers more to reach some of the notes.

Do it Jim, they are easy to play and will give you some new ideas. And if you use power chords with drop D tuning, you will be the Foo Fighters!

the younger guitarist was amazed that all my chords were full barre - he said don't you use power chords, and don't your fingers get tired! Just that I come from a different era.....
