I really love this song too & was pleased to see that you'd attributed it (correctly) to Billy Bragg.
Too many people plump for Kirsty MacColl. Not that there's anything wrong with her version either.

This is great Hook, I love this song.

I remember the Kirsty Macoll version from when I was a kid, loved that version and the BB one too, was actually thinking of doing the KM version as some point with the 12 string.

Excellent cover.....we used to go and see Billy before he got all famous for 50p at the key in peterborough on a sunday morning ........you knew he was going to make it some one who writes a song that well .......welll it would have been a crime for him not too wouldn't it
