My apologies for dropping off the face of the planet.  Things have been not so swell lately.  My mother's mental health has deteriorated unbelievably in the last several months (Parkinson's dementia).  She sees helicopters outside her windows, children playing in front of her, and she has recently tried to pull things out of a hot oven without mitts.  I have been traveling back and forth to Atlanta to relieve my brother while we are scrambling to find a safe facility for her because she is now in need of 24-hour care.  I think the one thing that is able to take my mind off of this has been preparing for the upcoming acoustic gig I mentioned in an earlier post (that has now been pushed back twice).

Sorry to whine. I wish you all well.

I also tried to post a mock set.  It was played live (with a few edits), including all the jammy transitions. The link is here: dead link.  I forgot that our "Fire and Rain" is capoed, so John is singing on the low side.

Sorry to hear to about your mother, my own mother in law is now in a home, some times it,s the only way ,still so hard.
Glad the music is an escape, cause this is top class, the guitar and vox are way too good.

 Hope every thing works out

WOW !!!

This is fab Bruce. I'm 20 minutes into the "concert" now and I dig it ! ... The part starting at ~19:30 is really cool !Did you use an ebow or just a volume pedal to get the pad'ey sound or maybe a reverse effect?

Johns voice is great as usual, tho a tad strained on the lower notes of "Fire and Rain". BTW, has he got himself a looper as well? or is it you doing the harmonies from  ~27:00

ha "Favourite things"  ... cool !! Really a inspired version !

the segue from "Wild world" to "Whipping post" is great !!

Would love to see you guys live !!

And your looper control is certainly enviable .

cool ending with the snippet from Rocket man ! (John harmonizing with himself again?) You could do some vocals yourself you know ;)

Great work Bruce and John !!

Thanks for your kind words about my mother, folks. I always leave this site feeling better than I arrived. This stuff may be a part of life, but it still sucks.

Thanks, Geir.  I didn't really expect anybody to tackle the whole set.  It is incredibly appreciated. It was literally made up on the fly as I tried to think of tunes we could transition to. Rough around many edges, but I have to admit I loved the element of danger. Most fun I've had in a practice in ages.

I have been toying with getting a volume pedal, but I already have four pedals on the floor now (and three of them are twin pedals). Kind of crazy for an acoustic gig. Anyhow, that part was done with the volume knob on the guitar preamp, and then I was riding the level on the delay.

John does have a looper in a Boss VE-20 he is using, but syncing with my loops proved to be super difficult. It dawned on me the other night that my loop pedal has inputs for both instrument and microphones, so I just plugged in one of each. I run a second microphone through it (with an on/off switch), specifically for vocal looping in time with established guitar loops. This set was the first time John got to try it out.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother Bloopy......I went through the same a few years back. There's nothing pleasant about placing an aging parent in a care facility but in the long run it's the best for all of you....

This acoustic song sounds great! I would love to see this live....excellent performances from both of you!

I`m very sorry to hear about your Mom, Bruce. I can totally relate to you because my father has this same thing and cancer on top of it all. It really doesn`t hit me hard till i see him and talk to him and see how he forgets things. It`s a hard thing to deal with and my mom takes care of him although i don`t know how she does it everyday. She
has a lot on her plate.

I have to say this is the best i`ve heard from you two. John`s vox performance is spectacular and your acoustic playing is the best i`ve heard from you. I like you stick little runs and fills in your playing. Exactly what i love to hear and do myself.

I hope all goes well with you
