Written in 1988, re-worked this weekend at the request of my daughter with a slower and acoustic treatment
Will post a link to the original version in soundclick recorded in a studio in 1989, which was the gigged incarnation
I was living and working in Hungerford on 19th August 1987.. this song is inspired by the events of that day

Recorded to Sonar via EMU1616, Rode NT1, some double tracking, Tanglewood accoustic, Les Paul
Enjoy  :)

Push Down the Door
Written by Andy Casson
1988
Hear the chimes it's nearly time what are you looking for
Caught on the street, facing east for more
You hold your signs to the sun, bellow with your gun
For law and order, something must be done
Oh no
Push down the door

Utopian dreams dropping to their knees praying for more
The mother on the street, child at her feet is crying crying for more
Bullets are flying, people are dying, don't you believe
Someone must be lying
There are children dead, shot in the head
Believe what you see we'll jump into your bed
Push down the door

Nothing's what it seems, living in a dream and dying for more
I saw what I saw, what does it mean Oh Lord
Limboing with friends, went where I was sent
Tell me you believe me, tell me what's next
We held our hands to the sun, taken on the run
Proven with a kiss but nothing has begun...oh no
Push down the door...

Powerful and melancholy. It sounds fantastic, so atmospheric. Instrumentation is superb, sparse but enough to support the lyric perfectly.

Great vocals and all round superbly recorded.
We are here on Earth to fart around. Don't let anybody tell you any different

I listened the both versions! The newest (slower) version is absolutely better. It is a good example of the evolution in home recorders...

Great tune indeed!! The "slower part" between 3mins to 4 works well! I could imagine Phil Collins singing this!  :) Thanks for sharing the both versions...

An epic number indeed Andy and yes I remember that day every time that Hungerford is mentioned. I could hear a band like Mountain doing this song in the same style as Theme for an Imaginary Western, it has that same gravitas. Fabulous piece of work..............Willie

Andy.... loved the 80's version, but the current slower version speaks to me in a heavier way. Great job all round. Great track. Love it.
